Making D Major Guitar Chords Sound Better

If you are playing a song on guitar that features a lot of D major chords, using the same chord pattern or voicing can begin to sound a bit monotonous. So, to spice things up a bit, let's look at six slight variations on the D major chord that will add some extra nuance and musicality to your playing.

First off, the D major chord consists of three notes: D, F#, and A. In these examples, we will be adding one or two notes to the chord that will serve as embellishments, for example, the notes C, E, and C#. These will give a little extra color to the chords.

All of these chords consist of only two or three left-hand fingers to play. So they are fairly easy to learn.

Have fun trying these chords out and let them serve as starting points for your D-Major Explorations!
